Our Founder
Dr. Bala Maijama'a Wunti
Dr. Bala Maijama'a Wunti is the Founder and Chairman of the Wunti Al-Khair Foundation and the visionary behind Wunti International Academy. With decades dedicated to community service, he established the Foundation on the belief that lasting change in Northern Nigeria begins with investing in people — through quality education, economic opportunity, and social support that reaches beyond any single generation.
Guided by this conviction, he founded WIA as an educational intervention of WAKF, bringing together a British/Nigerian blended curriculum, strong Islamic values, and an international outlook while remaining firmly rooted in local heritage and community pride.
Our Story
Long before he was addressed as “Dr.”, Bala Maijama'a Wunti was simply a boy in Bauchi State for whom school was never guaranteed. He walked long distances to reach a functioning school, and watched promising friends drop out not for lack of ability, but for lack of opportunity.
Talent, he often observed, is distributed equally across Bauchi State; opportunity is not. WIA is his answer — a standing commitment that no child in Bauchi should have to fight as hard as he did simply to learn.
